GardenLA.com is the brainchild of one person, Steven C. Gardening is his passion.
GardenLA is the result of his activities relating to gardening, volunteering at local schools, and community involvement.
For now, the site is owned by his business, as part of his belief that local businesses should actively contribute to their community. Eventually, we may incorporate GardenLA into a full fledged 501(c)(3) non profit organization. As we grow, we hope to incorporate the talents and experiences of many new friends. (The first of whom is Ann Warren, our volunteer web designer. Thanks Ann!)
Here is more of the experience Steven brings to GardenLA:
- Native of Los Angeles and avid gardener for over 20 years. Specializes in growing flowering plants, including California natives.
- Member of the Culver City Garden Club for about 10 years. Has served as Corresponding Secretary (publishing its newsletter), VP, and President. Currently Treasurer and Show Chairman for its annual show each summer.
- Volunteered for about 4 years at Richland Ave. Elementary's school garden. Worked alongside his best friend, a teacher at that school.
- Serves as an elected member of Castle Heights Elementary's Governance Council. 2006/2007 parent volunteer in charge of school gardens and beautification.
- Current board member of the South Robertson Neighborhood Council. Past Treasurer. Member of its Green Team committee, which does community cleanups, plantings, and improvement projects.
- Board member of Ballona Creek Renaissance, a non-profit organization doing creek cleanups, native plantings, and other projects along Ballona Creek.
- Casual member of TreePeople, having participated in neighborhood and school tree plantings.
- Graduate of Hamilton High School and UCLA.
