NORTH HOLLYWOOD HIGH (Public)
(5/2007) According to Master Gardener Mud Baron:
"I work with Rose Ormsby-Krueger in the Ag. Dept. We have 5.5 acres, 15 chickens, 4 goats, 12 rabbits, 1 pig and 1,000 dahlias. Our 182 kids give away about 100 bouquets a week to other local schools, teachers, parents and friends."
ECHO HORIZON ELEM. (Private, Culver City)
(5/2007) Two 2nd grade classes have an active compost bin going. (We did a presentation to the classes in April 2007.) According one of the teachers, Roz Henderson:
"Our compost bin at Echo Horizon is coming along very well. The
children love taking the temperature each day of the pile and we try
and think about what would be the best thing to add to keep the
temperature in the best zone. It has been a wonderful learning
experience and we plan to continue with it next year."
They're thinking of adding a butterfly garden come this fall/winter.
